Apple has released iOS 18 Beta 5 for developers. A public beta version is expected to be announced soon. This update brings new features across various Apple devices and operating systems, including iPadOS, watchOS, visionOS, macOS, and tvOS.
Prominent Features
- “Distraction Free Mode” has been added to Safari. This feature hides unnecessary elements on web pages, providing a more focused browsing experience.
- Changes were made to the Photos app. The carousel feature was removed and more options are provided for customizing albums.
- New options for home screen layout were introduced. Users can now arrange apps and widgets more easily.
- Icons for the Maps and Find apps have been updated.
- The “Private Wi-Fi Address” menu was added to Wi-Fi settings, improving network security.
- Design changes were made to the Control Center. Icons were made more transparent and new mute mode and cellular data icons were added.
Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements:
- AirDrop feature was improved.
- Update issues from previous versions were resolved.
- Errors related to wallpaper were fixed.
- General performance improvements were made.
Known Issues:
- The Tips app sometimes fails to load properly.
- The iPhone 15 Pro wallpaper option is currently not available.
- Some issues remain with Siri and Apple Intelligence features.
Battery and Heat Management:
Initial observations indicate that the devices remain cool during use and that the battery life is satisfactory.
Apple is expected to release iOS 18 Beta 6 next week and continue improving its operating system. Moreover, it is predicted that iOS 18.1 Beta 2 and other minor updates are also on the way.
