Microsoft Edge continues to increase its share in the browser market. According to the latest data from Statcounter, Edge reached a new record in July 2024 by capturing 13.74% of desktop users. This ratio represents a 0.39 point increase from the previous month.
The browser market leader, Google Chrome, maintains a huge market share of 64.72% as of July 2024. Following Microsoft Edge, which is in the second place, is Apple’s Safari with a 9.1% share. Mozilla Firefox is in the fourth place with 6.64%.
Effects of The End of Manifest V2
Google Chrome’s decision to deprecate Manifest V2 extensions may cause some users to turn to alternative browsers. Specifically, the developers of popular ad blocker uBlock Origin are suggesting their users to switch to the Manifest V3 compatible uBlock Lite, which has more limited features.
