Microsoft announced that it will terminate its support for versions 21H2 and 22H2 of Windows 11 within 60 days. According to a notice published on the company’s official Windows Health Dashboard website, these versions will stop receiving security updates on October 8, 2024.
Windows 11 version 21H2 was already discontinued for normal users. Currently, only the Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise versions continue to regularly receive updates. For Windows 11 version 22H2, the October 8 date will mark the end of the lifespan for the Home and Pro versions.
According to Microsoft’s statement, “The October 2024 security update to be published on October 8, 2024, will be the last update available for these versions. After this date, devices using the relevant versions will no longer be able to receive monthly security and preview updates providing protection against the most recent security threats.”
Most users’ systems have probably already automatically updated to Windows 11 version 23H2. However, if users want to check which version of Windows 11 their computer is running, they can look in Settings > System > About section under Windows Features > Version.

Versions 21H2 and 22H2 of Windows 11 received active support for two years for Home and Pro versions. Corporate and Education versions are typically supported for one year longer. Windows 11 version 23H2 will be the main version in use after the support for these older versions ends. According to official documents, version 23H2 will be supported until November 11, 2025.
This development shows that corporate customers and individual users who use old versions of Windows 11 need to update their systems as soon as possible to be protected from security risks.
