Microsoft announced a significant new feature awaiting users in the next big update, 24H2, for Windows 11. The company released a support document introducing the “Energy Saver” mode, which will replace the current Battery Saver feature.
According to a report from Windows Latest, the new Energy Saver mode will have the following features:
- Automatic or manual activation: It will automatically kick in when the battery reaches a certain level, but users can also activate it manually whenever they want.
- Limited customization: The new mode will offer users less flexibility in terms of performance settings. The performance mode or longest battery life options found in the current Battery Saver will be removed.
- Visual changes: When Energy Saver mode is active, transparency effects in windows will be disabled.
- Tighter app synchronization: The background synchronization of apps like OneNote, OneDrive, and Phone Link will be further restricted.
- Network connection usage: The new mode can also be used while connected to the network or running from a backup power source, for those wanting to save on electricity bills.
