Apple’s popular smartwatch series Apple Watch SE has new claims regarding the third generation model. The tech giant may be planning to position this new model as a smartphone alternative for children.

According to the information shared in Bloomberg’s famous technology reporter Mark Gurman’s Power On bulletin, a significant design change is expected in Apple Watch SE 3. The company is thinking of using hard plastic instead of an aluminum body. The reason behind this move is not just to reduce the cost; it’s also to make the product more suitable for children.

According to Gurman, the use of the plastic case will offer several advantages to Apple:

1. They can keep the price under 200 dollars.
2. They can market the product as a smartphone alternative for small children.
3. They can differentiate Apple Watch SE from standard Apple Watch models.
4. They can provide more vibrant and child-friendly color options.

However, experts are skeptical about how effective the marketing of the Apple Watch SE as a phone substitute will be. Although it’s an intriguing move for a prestigious brand like Apple to produce a watch for children, the success of this strategy is still unclear.
