Valve’s yet-to-be officially announced new game Deadlock attracted attention over the past weekend by reaching more than 16,000 simultaneous players. According to SteamDB data, the number of players rose to 16,600.

Deadlock is a project that Valve has been known to be working on for some time but has not officially announced. Experts believe the company is conducting a silent testing process to gauge the game’s potential. Reaching such a high level of participation shows that the game has garnered significant interest, even before an official introduction has been made.

Sources leaking information about the game claim that Deadlock is a competitive MOBA shooter game that has been in development since 2018. Valve reporter Tyler McVicker describes the game as a “mix of Valorant, Overwatch, Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2.” It is also mentioned that the game takes place in a world that is a mix of steampunk and fantasy, and features “sky rail” systems similar to Bioshock Infinite.
